| Nissitissit Middle School, located on a 22 acre campus in Pepperell and opened in 2002, serves students in grades 5 through 8. The building is designed to support the developmental needs of middle school students and provide a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment. Our facility includes a 504 seat auditorium with a full stage that supports high quality performances and productions. The school also features dedicated spaces for the arts and innovation, including a band room, general music classroom, one art room with a kiln, a drama room, and a STEM lab. Physical education and wellness are supported through a large gymnasium, a health classroom, and a well equipped fitness room. In addition to our indoor spaces, Nissitissit offers an outdoor learning area that enhances both instruction and student experience. This space is available to students during lunchtime and provides opportunities for teachers to bring classes outside on days with favorable weather. The outdoor setting supports hands-on learning, collaboration, and a connection to the environment, offering a flexible extension of the classroom. Nissitissit is structured around a strong middle school model. Students are organized into teams to create smaller learning communities that foster relationships and support both academic and social growth. Teachers collaborate regularly through common planning time to design instruction, monitor student progress, communicate with families, and plan team based activities. This approach strengthens connections and enhances learning for all students. Our curriculum aligns with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and is designed to be both rigorous and engaging. Students have access to a wide range of courses, including accelerated opportunities in mathematics and rich programming in science, English language arts, social studies, world language, and unified arts. Instruction emphasizes critical thinking, problem solving, and real world application. Technology plays an important role in teaching and learning at Nissitissit. Classrooms are equipped with modern instructional tools, and students have regular access to devices that support research, collaboration, and creativity. Our library media center and additional learning spaces provide flexible environments for both independent and group work. Nissitissit Middle School is committed to providing a well rounded educational experience that meets the needs of all learners. Through strong relationships, high expectations, and a focus on continuous improvement, we strive to prepare students for success in high school and beyond. |
