Welcome to Beverly Middle School! Located at 502 Cabot Street, we are conveniently situated near Route 128 on Route 1A. Our new school building, opened for the 2018-2019 school year, boasts architectural design elements such as open concept cafeterias, flexible classrooms, small group hallway work areas, dynamic performance spaces, a double gym and fitness room, and 12 maker spaces- all of which are bathed in natural light. Our school-wide focus is to build a strong, challenging, academic program enhanced by interdisciplinary teaching while building a solid sense of self-responsibility and community awareness. Students are expected to demonstrate high levels of achievement while maximizing their many strengths and talents. Our 1:1 technology model supports individualized learning. We currently have a student body of approximately 1,450, grades 5 through 8. The 5th grade is comprised of six two-teacher teams and one three-teacher team. The 6th grade is comprised of eight two-teacher teams. 5th and 6th grade students study math, science, social studies and English. Grades 7 and 8 are comprised of three five-person teams each. 7th and 8th grade students study foreign language in addition to the other academic subjects. Our global applications program includes fine arts, STEM, and wellness classes. Band, chorus and strings programs are also present at each grade level. All of our students’ diverse learning needs are addressed through our many student support programs. We have classes for students with learning disabilities, language-based disabilities, developmental delays, and behavioral disorders. We have the Opportunity Program, which helps students with anxiety, transition issues, or emotional concerns. We also have a fully included ELL (English Language Learner) program. Beverly Middle School is proud to offer a variety of activities and sports. Student government, yearbook, math team, the National Junior Honor Society, GSA, robotics and intramural sports are a few of the clubs in which students can participate after school. In addition, Beverly Middle School has a very active PTO. This dedicated group of parents is responsible for all major fundraising, which provides money for enrichment programs for all students as well as for field trips and to supplement classroom supplies for teachers. Communication with our families is done through an e-newsletter from the office, “Homeward Bound”. The PTO also works closely with the School Council to support the academic goals of the school. Staff members take pride in the Beverly Middle school culture of community and multi-faceted learning opportunities. |
