| Our Focus Statement May Street School strives to stimulate curiosity, motivate and increase academic and social learning outcomes by building on strengths, abilities and learning styles. Our goal is to utilize Writing within an interdisciplinary approach in order to provide optimum learning experiences across the curriculum. Therefore, we have selected Writing as our school area of focus. By implementing 6+1Traits of Writing, cohesive, systematic approach to writing, we will be able to prioritize and individualize instruction across the curriculum. We believe that 6+1Traits of Writing will provide the platform for a shared vision, vocabulary and assessments. We strongly believe that by adopting this program as our path for writing, we will address and support our efforts for reaching goals set forth by teachers, students, parents and community members while providing optimum learning experiences within an interdisciplinary approach.
