BC High is a Jesuit, Catholic day school for boys in grades seven through twelve, located on a 40-acre campus in Boston, Massachusetts. One of 62 Jesuit Secondary Schools in the United States, BC High currently enrolls nearly 1,500 students. As a premier secondary school for young men, 98% of its graduates matriculate to institutions of higher education, with 93% of seniors accepted to colleges and universities identified by Barron’s as most or highly competitive. Many of the region’s top religious, business, education, legal, political, and medical professionals studied at BC High. Since 1863 BC High’s mission has been to form leaders of competence, conscience, and compassion who seek to do things ad majorem Dei gloriam—for the greater glory of God. BC High strives to challenge students to become young men of integrity, educated in faith and for justice, committed to academic excellence and service to others. Students attend BC high from across the local region. Reflecting its commitment to diversity, access, and academic excellence, BC High awarded more than $6 million in financial assistance this year. Jesuit education integrates faith with knowledge, and students are encouraged to apply these qualities to improving the world around them, a premise known among Jesuits as “faith that does justice.” The BC High education is designed to resonate beyond the classroom and into the dining hall, onto the playing fields and performance arenas, into student organizations, and across the greater Boston metropolitan area. Central to BC High’s mission is the concept of developing “Boys into Men for Others.” BC High instills in young men the duty we share to care for one another. Learning at BC High encompasses everything from service programs and co-curricular activities to international opportunities and personalized guidance and support. Educated in this tradition, BC High students grow into young men who will distinguish themselves at some of the most selective colleges and universities in the nation. BC High maintains a strong financial aid program in order to make a Jesuit education available to as many qualified and deserving students as possible. The school believes a diverse community, rich in varied experiences, benefits everyone affiliated with BC High and enhances our worldview. This includes students from various economic, racial, and religious backgrounds who thrive in an environment that celebrates and respects different traditions and frameworks. By working to limit tuition costs and increase financial aid, BC High fosters an exceptionally inclusive environment that provides unmatched preparation for the next stages of BC High students’ lives. BC High embraces the essential contribution a diverse community of students, faculty, and staff make in an atmosphere of mutual respect, to the advancement of its mission. Accordingly, BC High is dedicated to maintaining a welcoming environment for all people, particularly those who may be vulnerable to discrimination. BC High is committed to its Jesuit, Catholic mission, and rejects and condemns all forms of harassment, wrongful discrimination, and disrespect. Moreover, it is the policy of the school, while reserving its lawful rights to take actions designed to sustain its Jesuit, Catholic mission, to provide equal opportunity in employment regardless of a person’s race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, ancestry, disability, sexual orientation, marital, or veteran status. This policy relates to all aspects of employment including but not limited to recruitment, hiring, compensation, benefits, training, promotion, transfer, discipline, or termination. |
