| The Town of Oxford is located in picturesque Worcester County in Central Massachusetts and is situated just about 10 miles southwest of the City of Worcester. The Town is bordered by the Towns of Dudley, Charlton, Leicester, Auburn, Millbury, Sutton, and Douglas. The Town has a total area of approximately 27 square miles with the French River running directly through it. The Town offers easy access to many major roads including Route 20, Route 12, Route 56, and Interstate Highway 395 with three local exits. The Town of Oxford may be best known as the birthplace of both Clara Barton and Elliott Joslin. Clara Barton was a humanitarian, teacher, nurse, and recognized as the founder of the American Red Cross. Elliott Joslin was the first doctor in the United States to specialize in diabetes and was the founder of the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston. The Town is also proud to be home to The Barton Center for Diabetes Education at Camp Joslin in N. Oxford. We feel the pioneering spirit of these individuals remains part of the fabric of the Town of Oxford. In addition to Oxford’s strong and unwavering commitment to academics, a comprehensive program is offered to challenge and support our students to achieve their personal best. A safe educational environment supported by a District Safety Committee, School Resource Officer, crisis teams, and caring staff; Strong social-emotional supports to meet the needs of students at all ages; Two licensed school psychologists on staff; Full-time nurses at all four (4) schools; A continuum of services for students with special needs, focused on creating an inclusive community; State-of-the-art technology including: 1:1 Chromebooks for Grades 5-12, Chromebook carts at all schools, computer labs, smart boards, and virtual courses; Award-winning Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Corp. (NJROTC) program in Grades 9-12; After School clubs that foster enrichment activities; Remedial summer programs for students; FREE Summer Food Service Program for children; Dynamic Music, Drama, and Art programs; Distinguished athletic programs with multiple sports offerings; Early College Program enabling high school students to earn college credits; Academic and Career Exploration (ACE) Program for high school students in need of intervention; Ongoing professional development throughout the school year focused on literacy and math; Before and After School Daycare program; Preschool Program for 3- and 4- year olds; and A focus on community service at all levels. |
